During the May celebration of National Tourism Month, take advantage of the Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau's "Be A Tourist In Your Own County" promotion by visiting some of the entertaining and educational family attractions for which our county is known. Here is one possible itinerary you can use to craft a delightful family outing.
Founded in 1913 by the Fleming family, Shady Brook Farm, Yardley, is one of the last working farms left in Bucks County, complete with a fantastic Farm Market, petting zoo and a host of annual special events geared toward family fun. Enjoy the serenity of Bowman Hill's Wildflower Preserve in Solebury Township, where woods and meadows of wildflowers, ferns, vines, shrubs and trees are bursting with Spring color. Visit the New Hope Canal Boat Company and take the family on a scenic, narrated tour of the varied architecture along the Delaware River aboard an authentic mule-drawn canal boat. Discover the beautiful countryside surrounding historic New Hope aboard the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad's restored 1920s railroad car. If it's rip-roaring family fun you seek, be sure to experience Sesame Place, the nation's only theme park based on Sesame Street with 14 water rides, 50 dry rides and plenty of family events. Fun for the little ones continues with a trip to Giggleberry Fair at Peddler's Village, an environment of exploration including Giggleberry Mountain, the area's largest indoor obstacle course. Carousel Village at Indian Walk, home to an antique 1890 carousel resting in a beautiful garden setting, provides another wonderful family destination. Bring your day to a calming close with a ride on the carousel, a trip on the miniature C.P. Huntingdon locomotive, or a stroll through the country shops or Carousel Gardens.
All of these destinations offer coupons in this year's Bucks County Passport to Savings, making family fun more affordable than ever.
