In recognition of travel and tourism's tremendous economic, social and cultural impact in Bucks County, the Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau, Inc. (BCCVB) and numerous area businesses have teamed up to offer the third annual "Discover Bucks: Be A Tourist In Your Own County" program. This year-long community awareness event begins May 1, 2002.
"Be a Tourist in Your Own County" is promoted through the "Passport to Bucks County Savings" coupon booklet spotlighting participating area attractions and businesses, who offer special incentives throughout the month of May, in recognition of National Tourism Month. Additional coupons contain extended offers valid throughout the year. The cost of a Bucks County Passports is $10, and each Passport is good for up to four people. The Passport features great savings at local attractions, historic sites, restaurants, shops and lodging facilities.
The objective of the program is to familiarize residents with all that Bucks County offers . . . all the things that make Bucks County such a popular tourist destination. "This is the perfect opportunity for Bucks County residents to discover their own county," says Keith Toler, Executive Director of the BCCVB. "We want to make residents aware of all the wonderful things right here in the county, and turn them into ambassadors of tourism so they can spread the word to others." Passport purchasers can experience the many treasures of Bucks County with savings at over 40 locations! A complete list of participating locations can be found at www.buckstravel.net. "This program benefits both residents and businesses throughout the county," adds Toler. "We encourage residents to simply have a great time 'touring' close to home while enjoying tremendous discounts."
If an organization purchases 50 or more Passports, the cost is only $6 each, making the coupon booklet a great fundraising item for local schools or other groups in the community. For more information on fundraising opportunities, contact Linda Dougherty at (215) 345-4552 ext. 111.
